2022 Jeep Compass Safety Features

December 8th, 2022 by

The Jeep Compass fits in the compact crossover SUV market but stands out from other vehicles because of its rugged exterior look and off-road capabilities. For the 2022 model year, Jeep added several new standard and available safety technology features to the Jeep Compass’ already comprehensive list of safety systems. Let’s take a closer look at the safety features you can get with the 2022 Jeep Compass and how they work.

A Full Suite of Standard Safety Systems

White 2022 Jeep Compass

One of the big changes for the 2022 Jeep Compass is the addition of more standard safety systems. In previous models, these systems were available for the entry-level Sport, but they had to be added as an additional option. However, each of these advanced driver aids now comes standard with every Jeep Compass.

Forward Collision Warning With Active Braking

This system uses cameras and advanced radar sensors to help detect whether the Jeep Compass is approaching another vehicle too fast. It will provide you with an alert and then apply the brake if necessary to avoid a collision.

Lane-Departure Warning With Mitigation

The lane-departure warning system will warn you if it senses the Jeep Compass moving out of its lane when the turn signal is not activated. If you don’t respond to the warning and make a correction, the system will make minor steering inputs to keep the Jeep Compass in its lane of travel.

Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection With Automatic Emergency Braking

This system uses cameras and sensors to monitor the road in front of the Jeep Compass. It scans the road ahead to detect any potentially dangerous conditions. If it senses an issue, it will give you a warning, and the Jeep Compass will automatically decelerate to help avoid a collision with a pedestrian or cyclist.

Blind-Spot Monitoring With Rear Cross-Traffic Alert

The blind-spot monitoring system will alert you using visual and audible cues when a vehicle enters your Jeep’s blind spot. The rear cross-traffic alert system warns you if there is an obstacle or vehicle in the way that you can’t see when backing up.

Active Lane Management

The active lane management system is a new safety feature for the Jeep Compass. It measures the vehicle’s position within the marked lanes, and if it senses any unintentional drifting, it will alert you and make a steering correction to keep you in your lane.

Parkview Rear Backup Camera

The Parkview backup camera shows you an image of what’s behind your Jeep Compass whenever you put the gear selector in Reverse, so you will always know what’s behind you when you’re reversing.

A Long List of Available Safety Systems

In addition to all the advanced safety systems that now come standard with the Jeep Compass, some trim levels offer additional safety features as options, and others offer the Driver Assist Group Package with even more features. Depending on your Jeep Compass model, you can get the following systems:

360-Degree Surround-View Camera

The 360-degree surround-view camera system uses several cameras that are positioned around the Jeep Compass to provide you with a top-down, 360-degree view of the vehicle and display it on the large touch screen display. It makes parking easier and is very helpful when you need to squeeze into tight spots. It helps you to see what’s in your blind spots and will show you objects that may not be visible otherwise.

Parallel and Perpendicular Park and Unpark Assist System

This active parking guidance system takes over the steering when activated. This means you can take your hands off the steering wheel and let the system’s sensors ease the Jeep Compass into a parking spot, whether it’s a parallel or perpendicular spot. You just need to control the brakes and change from Reverse to Drive when necessary.

Parksense Front and Rear Park Assist

The optional Parksense rear backup camera and the Parksense front and rear park assist make parking easier and safer by providing a clear view of what’s behind you. The system will provide advanced assistance by putting the Jeep Compass in exactly the right spot.

Highway Assist System

The highway assist system is an available option for some of the Jeep Compass’ trim levels as part of the Driver Assist Group Package. It uses radar and sensors to determine where you should be in your lane and how far you should be from the car in front of you. The system will make steering adjustments and automatically apply pressure to the brakes to keep you in the right spot.

Traffic Sign Recognition

The available traffic sign recognition as part of the Driver Assist Group uses a forward-facing camera to identify speed limit signs and other common traffic signs, including school zones and crosswalks. The system will alert you by displaying the sign on the driver information display.

Adaptive Cruise Control With Stop and Go

The adaptive cruise control system makes long drives less tiresome by automatically adjusting the speed of the Compass to maintain a set distance from the vehicle in front. It works in heavy stop-and-go traffic, which means you don’t have to keep putting your foot on and off the brake.

Passive Safety Systems Are Just as Important

While all these active safety systems and driver aids are important pieces of the safety puzzle, the passive safety systems are also important. The Jeep Compass comes standard with a full suite of airbags, including driver and passenger side-impact airbags. It also comes with seatbelt pre-tensioners, electronic stability control, electronic traction control, and anti-lock brakes.

You can find out more about all these safety systems when you visit us at Jeff Belzer’s Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram dealership in Roseville, Minneapolis. Our sales staff will be happy to provide you with more details and answer any of your questions. If you want a better idea of how the safety features work, you can take a Jeep Compass out for a test drive and test them out for yourself.
